Advice: Don't get into ship production until you have *serious* capital behind you.
Ship BPOs take a lot of science line hours to research to 10/18. Margins are tight - if you use an 8/12 'budget' BPO you may end up losing ISK.
If you want to dabble lightly in production, find a very high turnover tech 2 module such as the Enegized Adaptive Nano Membrane II, or my personal favorite, the Light Neutron Blaster II. These have significantly higher profit margins and are always in high demand.
As a general rule, fair market price for a 10/20 frigate BPO is 50 million ISK. 10/18 is 40m, 10/10 to 10/16 is 30m, and 9/(anything) is around 20m, while 8/anything is at most 10 million. (I've had a lot of these go through my hands in the last 2 years).
These are general trend prices only. You might be able to sucker an idiot into buying a 7/12 Condor BPO for 30m, or you might snap up a 10/20 one for 15m, but these are not fair prices and you should regard that as profit from either scamming or trade.
If you want to research blueprints for profit, there is a good deal of ISK to be made researching various component BPOs. With low capital you can research Quantum Microprocessors and similar components (these are used in tech 2 production, cost 5 million from NPCs, and take about 60 science line hours in a rigged Raitaru or 120 science line hours in a station to get to 10/20; 10/20 ones generally sell in the 20-30 million range).
With more capital, the blueprints for components used for citadels (such as Structure Factory Blueprint) are 200m each, and take about 2000 science line hours to research to 9/14, at which point they sell for 550-600m.
And with more capital again, dreadnought BPOs are 3 billion ISK from an NPC, take about 4000 science line hours to get to 9/14, and will then sell for 5 to 6 billion, or you can just copy them for profitable resale.
